FR vs EN: which Pokémon version to buy in Switzerland

What you actually read

In French-speaking Switzerland a French booster is read at the table, handed to a child, played in club without translating out loud. English collects more easily if you follow international prices or already play in EN. German and Italian exist; we list them when we have them, we do not invent them.

Price and liquidity

English often has more volume on world markets. French has real local demand, especially on ETBs and anniversary displays such as 30th Celebration. Neither is “more official”. Both are official sealed product. Language is an attribute, like the SKU.

Gifting in Switzerland

Gift the language the person reads. A parent in Lausanne does not need an EN display “because it charts”. A Zurich collector who plays in English does not need FR “because this is Switzerland”. The country has four languages; so does the shop.

A simple rule

• You play in a Romandy club: FR.
• You follow the EN market and you read English: EN.
• You are unsure: one ETB in the reading language, not a whole display.
• You collect both: two pages, two stocks, two prices.
